Reports to:

Support Manager

Job Purpose:

To assist in the provision of Support Services, in providing accurate and practical advice and assistance to clients on all aspects of HR and employment law, tailored to suit the business needs of the individual client.

Main Responsibilities:

• To receive support line enquiries and advise clients and mhl managers on HR and employment law issues, by telephone, email, fax and post;

• To research HR and employment law issues and assist in preparing briefings, newsletter articles and other documents explaining those issues in an easily understood, accurate and practical manner;

• To assist in producing employment law practice guides and documentation;

• To assist in the processing of insurance claims by the analysis of company files, completion and processing of relevant forms;

• To participate in out of hours cover of the 24/7 support line by providing advice via mobile telephone and, if necessary, faxing or emailing documents from home (out of hours cover will be required approximately one week in every two months);

• To assist generally in supporting activities of other departments as required.

Candidate Profile:

Qualifications: Graduate of the CIPD or relevant degree in Law or HR or equivalent.
Knowledge: Up to date knowledge of core areas of HR and employment law policy and practice.
Skills: Able to communicate at all levels; literate and numerate; able to write clear, accurate and concise descriptions of policies and practice; computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, email and internet; keyboard skills; ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge.
Experience: Recent work experience in HR or employment law field, preferably advising managers on HR/ employee related matters.
Personality: Team player; able to get on with people at all levels; can work without supervision; shows initiative; smart appearance.
